Why Kings Confess by C.S. Harris

I just finished this book last night. I've had it since it was released but waited to read it when I could enjoy it. It was so worth the wait. I think this is the best of the series! This is the 9th book in the Sebastian St. Cyr series. This book finds Sebastian and Hero awaiting the birth of their child. Sebastian begins to investigate the murder of a young French physician who is in England with a delegation from France hoping to bring about peace between England and France. As Sebastian begins his investigation he discovers that not all is at it appears and it brings him face to face with Marie-Theresa the daughter of Marie-Antoinette and Louis XVI. During his search Sebastian comes face to face with a person from his past and he must face the horrors of his past in order to save his future.

I absolutely love the direction Harris is taking the characters. You are able to see how marriage has changed Sebastian and Hero. I also loved how this spends more time with Paul Gibson, the Irish surgeon who helps Sebastian. He's such as great character and I'm glad we got to spend more time with him. I also love how Harris wove the story of Marie-Theresa and the young Dauphin into the story. There are so many different theories as to what really happened to the young prince during the Terror and its was awesome to see how Harris used it in the story. As far as the mystery part, I can usually figure out who the person is after a few chapters but this one kept me guessing till the end. Was very well done. I can't wait till the next book. Bravo!
