So my reading life has consisted of college textbooks for the past 15 weeks so I have had very little time to read anything for fun. Today I finished An Old Betrayal, the newest in the Charles Lenox series by Charles Finch. I really enjoy this series and have been looking forward to this book since I pre-ordered it. It did not disappoint.
The story picks up with Lenox working diligently in Parliament. He is contacted by his former protege Dallington, who being sick, needs Lenox to meet with a new client of his. Soon Lenox is pulled back into the world of investigation, something he discovers is what truly makes him happy. The investigation soon uncovers a plot that would strike Buckingham Palace itself. Will Dallington and Lenox be able to solve the mystery before its too late?
This book is extremely well written and once again Finch weaves together a story that will keep you guessing. There a couple new characters introduced into the mix along with the return of some favorites like Jane's cousin Toto and Lenox's butler turned secretary, Graham. I highly recommend picking up the series if you are looking for some fun reading. You won't be disappointed. Happy reading!
