A Curse Dark as Gold by Elizabeth Bunce

What would you do if you were left to save your families business? Would you fight with all you had to save not only you only income but that of an entire town? Charlotte Miller is faced with that very problem. When her father dies, Charlotte and her sister are left to keep their mill running, but there is only one problem, the mill is said to be cursed. Charlotte must find a way to keep her mill running and keep the town that she loves from falling apart. Strange things begin to happen including the arrival of her long lost Uncle Wheeler, who isn't all that he appears to be. When an answer presents itself in the form of Jack Spinner, Charlotte must risk everything to save the mill and the people she loves.

This retelling of the classic story of Rumpelstiltskin is masterfully done. The author does an amazing job of weaving the classic tale along with adding new twists and turns that will keep the reader guessing. The characters are beautifully done and the authors use of names and jobs really help give the reader an idea of life in that time period. The book was well researched in how life would have been like for the people during this time. Very well done.
